Bio
Sandra Bouissou is a versatile and accomplished violinist whose dedication spans solo, orchestral, and chamber music. She is currently pursuing a Professional Studies Degree at the Manhattan School of Music with Lucie Robert. She earned her Master’s Degree from the same institution, studying with Lucie Robert and Nicholas Mann, and her Bachelor’s Degree from Chapman University, mentored by Bill Fitzpatrick — all achieved with merit scholarships. Sandra also studied under Betttina Mussumeli throughout high school at San Francisco Conservatory’s Pre-College and Claudia Bloom in Palo Alto, California.
Sandra’s musical journey has taken stages across continents, with notable appearances at renowned festivals including the Aspen Music Festival, Mozarteum Festival, Fontainebleau Festival, and Festival Napa Valley. Sandra has had the honor of playing for and with artists such as David Kim, Laura Hamilton, Pierre Amoyal, Régis Pasquier, Gérard Poulet, Paul Kantor, Connie Heard, Pei-Ling Lin, Pinchas Zukerman, the Pacifica Quartet, the Telegraph Quartet, and the Juilliard String Quartet.
In New York City, Sandra pairs her continuing education and teaching with playing at eminent venues such as Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall, as well as private events as a soloist and a chamber musician. She is also a current member of the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra.
Teaching Info
Sandra is a huge proponent of teaching music as not only learning to play an instrument, but also a way to learn self-discipline, creativity, problem solving, focus and concentration, self-expression, and critical thinking. Her pedagogical approach centers on fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters curiosity and personal growth. She tailors her teaching methods to match each student’s unique learning style and aspirations. Over the past six years, Sandra has been instrumental in the teachings and development of violin students in both California’s Bay Area and New York City.
