Bio
My name is Bam Rodriguez, a GRAMMY award winning bass player, educator and multi instrumentalist.
I have lived in New York City over the past 10 years, and prior to that in The Netherlands, Belgium, Aruba and Venezuela. In the 20 years of my professional career I have played in over 30 countries, performed at places such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Barbican, Newport Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, taught at NYU Abu Dhabi, UCLA, to name a few. I’ve been part of the Jazz, Latin and World Music scene of New York City for the past 10 years, recording performing and teaching.
In terms of education, I am one of the head teachers of the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance, teaching music to teenagers who desire to be professional musicians, bringing them on tour to Cuba and the US and holding weekly rehearsals with them. I have also taught privately for over 17 years to people of all ages and levels.
Aside from music, I love climbing, origami, people, chess, food and learning new things.
Love and music,
Bam
Teaching Info
My priority is to find with each student the teaching way that works for them. I’ve been teaching privately for over 17 years, and I find that what works best is to find what is the way in which each person learns the fastest, the better, and the most efficient (it varies from person to person!). The point is that learning should be a pleasant experience that also works, and my commitment is to find that.
Every subject taught is done in a dynamic and fun way, whether that’s playing, composing, ear training, theory or improvising, it just works better that way.
