Hello! I have been teaching classical and acoustic guitars for over twelve years and have been performing on guitar for almost 20. I have taught at many music schools on Long Island and in Queens, Baltimore, Michigan, and the Northern Virginia area. These schools include Mason Community Arts Academy, Catoctin School of Music, St.Pauls Private Schools, Vienna Music School, and Sam Ash Music Learning Center. I have taught guitar classes at MacArthur high school in Levittown, NY and have taught community and group classes in the summer at music festivals and camps like Midsummer Music Dream in Quebec, CA and Mason Community Arts Summer Camps in Fairfax, VA. Currently, I am on the music faculty of Jackson College in Michigan where I teach beginner-intermediate guitar. I specialize in teaching notation reading, songs and pieces, finger style guitar, technique, and preparation for NYSSMA, RCM, and other exams. I teach every student the basics of musicianship, ear training and music theory through engaging workbooks and online exercises. Every student should have a strong foundation in these areas to succeed as a musician at the highest level. As a teacher, I enjoy working with children, teens, and with adults and retirees. I teach lessons in the morning and early afternoon for students who are retired or are home at those hours of the day. I believe that every student can become an independent musician, learning music on their own at a young age. The student can then bring in their work to our lessons where we can focus on further details and additional techniques. Every student should become a fan of music where they learn to enjoy playing as well as listening to and learning about music. I possess undergraduate and graduate degrees in music education, performance, and history from universities in New York, Maryland, and Virginia. Students are free to and encouraged to text, e-mail, or call with questions regarding their music and lessons whenever they feel like they need assistance. I hope to work with you soon!
