Bio

Alex Keiser is a trumpet performer and teacher in New York City. He has been playing the trumpet for 11 years, and has performed in cities throughout the United States, Europe, and East Asia. His love for music and the trumpet started with having a strong passion for jazz and classical literature in middle school. This strong passion led to countless hours of practice and curiosity, which eventually brought him to winning the concerto competition for the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras at 18 years old, making for his debut as a soloist in front of full orchestra with the Arutunian Trumpet Concerto.
When not performing on the trumpet, Keiser enjoys teaching students and enlightening them with the joys of performing and learning the intricacies of music. He found and developed this passion when he spent 3 years teaching trumpet lessons to several high school and middle school students in Nashville, IN. He’s continued his community outreach in NYC by teaching at schools in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx through the Manhattan School of Music and as a Teaching Artist in the Harmony Program, where he participates in frequent teaching workshops and seminars. In addition, he maintains an active private studio of students aged 6-23 years old.

After graduating with a B.M. in Trumpet Performance from the Jacobs School of Music in 2023, he began studying under the tutelage of Professor Billy Hunter at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City to pursue his Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance, where he is predicted to graduate this May.

Teaching Info

Each student will be treated with a high level of respect and understanding. I will cater to the needs of each of my students individually, and do the absolute best that I can to help them develop as a musician, and teach them to love performing and playing their instrument. In addition, most musical and fundamental concepts will be learned through actual music as opposed to just method books. Lessons will be interactive, and we will set attainable goals to strive for, so that we can aim to reach those goals every week, while still having fun and enjoying music.
