Teaching Info
Students come to Anthony with a wide range of objectives, whether they want to know more about vocal technique and sound production, music theory and harmony, song-writing or piano and guitar skills. Each lesson is geared toward the students’ goals and is based upon Anthony’s rigorous background of academic and personal study. However, Anthony makes sure to make each lesson digestible and worthwhile for students of all levels and backgrounds, allowing them to develop at their own pace.
Anthony’s vocal technique practice is based on an understanding of the anatomy of the voice and the body in general. Students learn new and exciting vocal skills by improving their own understanding of their vocal instrument. Anthony’s practice is inspired by elements of yoga, mindfulness and Alexander Technique in order to equip students with the necessary strength, flexibility and awareness needed for healthy voice use. This holistic approach, along with the more delicate work around the larynx ensures that students are able to make whatever sounds they desire and need for a wide range of musical styles.
Anthony enjoys immensely teaching piano and guitar. Students young and old come to him to learn in a variety of styles, including classical, pop and jazz. Anthony loves to find a unique path for each student depending on their stylistic interests, always encouraging them to explore many avenues and setting them up with a strong foundation in technique.
Anthony is born and raised in Ireland and has a strong passion for Irish Traditional music and enjoys coaching students who are interested particularly in playing the whistle and singing traditional songs.
