Bio
Arianna Brusubardis, violinist, and Wisconsin native, began her violin studies at age three with Suzuki teachers: Mary Ellen Meyer, Lindsay Erickson, and Dorothy Brauer. Arianna studied with Dr. Bernard Zinck 2010-2018. Currently, she is in her third year at The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Laurie Smukler. A Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) Alumna, Arianna fulfilled leadership roles each year, and received numerous awards in MYSO’s concerto competitions. Other awards: Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artists Competition Winner (2016), Madison Symphony Orchestra’s Bolz Young Artist Competition Finalist (2018), Civic Music Association’s High School Showcase Award (2016, 2018), and Wisconsin Philharmonic Shining Stars Scholarship (2012, 2014, 2016). In summers, she has participated in Latvian Song Festivals (2009, 2012, 2019), traveled with MYSO to Vienna and Budapest (2015), Argentina and Uruguay (2017), and Asia (2018) with the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA). As Co-Concertmaster of NYO-USA, she performed with Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and Michael Tilson Thomas. Arianna is a Tanglewood Music Center Fellow, and participated in their virtual summer program in 2020. Arianna also enjoys performing with her family of eight, including the Brusubardis String Quartet.
Teaching Info
Beginners:
Students should expect to learn pieces from the Suzuki Violin School Book Series. Depending on the student, they will learn how to read music while learning how to play the violin. Or, they will learn pieces by ear. The main focus will be establishing discipline in practicing, and developing mental focus during practice sessions and lessons.
Advanced students:
Students should expect to learn repertoire that is suitable for their skill level. The main focus is to improve technique, while expanding the student’s creativity in their musical ideas. I hope to help students gain independence, and to help them learn how to problem-solve in their practice sessions.
Lessons will be tailored to fit the needs of each student, to encourage success and artistry. I will help my students find a joyful relationship with music: one that they can apply to every area of their lives. Music has enriched every area of my life. Because of this, it is my passion to share the beauty of music with others through the violin, in hopes that they may, too, find happiness in music.
