Teaching Info
Introduction:
As an artist and educator, I approach my lessons with positive energy, passionate integrity, and open curiosity. I provide an atmosphere that is structured, but at the same time allows students to experiment, question, and feel comfortable taking risks in order to communicate their fullest expression. I encourage active learning, personal inquiry, experimentation, and critical thinking as tools for artistic growth. I believe that singing can stimulate both intellectually and physically. I teach to inspire, connect, communicate, share my knowledge, and express my joy of the art.
Aspirations/Goals/Objectives:
As a teacher, I encourage my students to develop a strong technical foundation, a keen sense of the body in relationship to the voice, an appreciation for the art form, and a deep appreciation for their unique artistic expression. To reach these goals I will incorporate the following methods into my lessons: a technical and mind to body-based warm-up that each student will commit to memory, an educated and informed process that each student may use to take with them to their artistic endeavors (other studios, auditions, jobs, etc.), and exercises that will be based in creative improvisation and collaboration.
Mission:
1. To enhance each student’s unique sound and find the most freedom in their instrument.
2. To provide each student with performance opportunities that will allow them to build confidence as well as leadership skills.
3. To strengthen each student’s overall musicianship skills.
4. To encourage each student to discover their most creative and artistic expression.
Interaction with Students:
“Form, ease, beauty, and a sense of the whole” (Michael Chekov).
I am passionate about the artistic growth of each individual student and artist. Using a combination of these four principles, I will approach each student differently depending on their individual needs for growth.
Conclusion:
In accessing the progress of each student and individual artist, I look forward to learning, growing, and improving my teaching abilities as I strengthen each student’s technique, knowledge, discipline, artistry, body, and mindset.
